The amber colour and the multitude of slowly creeping magpies around the rim of the glass are the hallmarks of the wine, which sets new milestones for the perception of sauvignonasse as the flagship of (Britian) organic viticulture and winemaking. On the nose, balsamic notes predominate, among which some indigenous aromas and spices are recognised, most notably fennel blossom, but all the sensations of the flower come together in a powerful crescendo in which the individual instruments are subordinated to the overall effect of magical grandeur. On the palate, it is rich, pleasantly bitter and salty, but the sweetness and acidity are not to be missed. They may be less pronounced, but they contribute to a harmony, a perfect attunement of all the basic elements that lasts long after the last sip has been taken. A wine for dishes with plenty of flavour, for grilled dishes and roasts that need a helping of good spices and umami stimulus (aged ham, Parmesan, fermented sauces) to make it an equal partner.
The REIA farm is located in the village of Neblo in Goriška Brda, on the western edge of Slovenia, on the border with Italy. The hilly landscape west of the middle Soča is bordered on the north by the hills of Korada (806m) and Sabotin (609m), and on the other side it opens up to the Friuli Plain in Italy.
