Ronk

In the beginning, our grandfather Mirko ran the estate. It was diverse, like most estates or, rather, farms of that time.
The main livelihoods were cattle farming, fruit growing and viticulture. Like most other farmers, we sold our grapes to the local wine cellar. We only produced a small amount of wine for family consumption.
In 1987, the wine market was changing, so our father Stojko decided to devote himself exclusively to viticulture and wine production.
Our desire was - and still is - to produce high quality wines that will be able to compete in demanding domestic and foreign wine markets. In 1988 we focused mainly on unbottled wines. In 1993 we bottled the first wines (vintage 1992) with the label Ronk.
Since then, our production has focused on bottled wines. We invest a lot of effort in the vineyards, as we strive for as few oenological interventions in the cellar as possible. We believe that the quality of wine is born in the vineyards and develops only in the cellar.Today, the estate has about 36,000 vines on 9 hectares, which are mostly in Slovenia, in the Brda region, and some are also on the Italian side, in the Collio region. Most of them grow on hills, but only a small part on flat surfaces.
