Jakončič

The winemaking tradition of the Jakončič family farm dates back to 1847, when Mihael and Carolina Jakončič took over the first vineyards in the village of Kozana in Goriška Brda, thus laying the foundation for the family winery.
The commitment to quality grape and wine production on the Jakončič farm was, and still is, of primary importance. Only this type of cultivation, combined with the specific vineyard vines, can be the basis for the production of extract-rich, mineral-rich and structured wines.
The steady hum of a tractor somewhere in a paddock is the only proof that technology is allowed to enter a world that is otherwise built on manual labour, on tradition and on knowledge passed down from generation to generation. The experience of the elderly guides the impatience of the young, and the farm is very proud that parents and children share the care of the vineyards, winemaking and marketing.
The wines are divided into two lines, Jakončič and Carolina. The former is dominated by fresh varietal wines from younger vineyards, while the latter, which assumes a longer maturation in oak barrels, includes several varieties based on grapes from older vineyards, classic sparkling wines, wines made from dried grapes, as well as rebula, malvasia and pinot noir.
