Movia

Movia is not just a label for wines and an estate located in the border area between Slovenia (Brda) and Italy (DOC Collio), Movia is a way of life in all its splendour, purity of nature and sincerity of the author. Movia stands for timelessness and superior standards that lovers of fine wines can search for all over the world for years. From hungry classics, to a line of mature wines with excellent ageing potential - to specialities that have no equal in the world. All this - and more - is Movia. And when you come out of the cellar and taste the wines with Aleš, you'll be enchanted. The name of the magic? "Zig - zag!"
The year zero at the Movia estate dates back to 1820, when the daughter of the Movia family married Mr Kristanič. Since then, in addition to intensive fruit-growing, the farm has also started to grow vines.
But they have not forgotten Nature's original tradition - be authentic, respect the land and do not disturb it. That's why Movia is more than a brand of fine wines. It is a representative of nature in your glass. The estate covers 22 hectares, half of which is on the Italian side of the Goriška Brdes (Collio).
Even after the Second World War, the vineyards remained in family ownership, thus ensuring the continuity of the winemaking tradition in the Brda region. In 1958, the quality of the Kristančič family's wines earned it the status of exclusive supplier of wines for the protocol needs of the SFR Yugoslavia.
In line with the family's long-standing efforts, Aleš undertook further training in Bordeaux and Burgundy. He returned with the idea of transforming wine production, enriched by the insights of modern oenological and marketing concepts. These insights led to the historic breakthrough of Slovenian wines in the mid-1980s.
Today, the Movia brand is one of the most important and frequently awarded by national and international wine critics, and Aleš has been awarded the title of Innovator and Creator in the wine world.
