Čarga

Wine is poetry written by nature and man. Sometimes the rhymes are simple, straightforward and monosyllabic, other times they are complex, like life itself. Sometimes they flow on their own, other times they are sought, stalked and hunted. It takes effort to find the most beautiful ones. With work and with heart.
The steep vineyards of Brda help to forge the most beautiful verses and produce the best wines. They reflect the image of paradise and echo with the voice of angels. These are wines that we are proud of and that you will enjoy.

The farm's history and tradition

The oldest record of the farm dates back to 1767, when the farmer Chiorgo built a harbour on a natural pier between the valleys of Kožbanjšček and Belskega, for people of Čarga. The knowledge and love of the land, as the most valuable legacy of the first Čarga, was passed on from generation to generation, and also to the young men who came to live in Pristavo. At the same time, each generation wanted to take a step forward, and in the 1990s Edbin and Dušan Erzetič were responsible for the almost complete conversion of the farm to viticulture and winemaking, and for establishing a brand that pays tribute to all the clans of Pristava: Čarga 1767.

PRIVACY and farm philosophy

The Čarga estate comprises 25 hectares, more than half of which is devoted to viticulture. We are proud of our location, which is one of the best in Brda. The cultivation of the narrow terraces is demanding, but it is rewarded by the quality of the grapes and wine that can be produced on these slopes. We value indigenous rebula, but we do not neglect cosmopolitan varieties, as both Bordeaux and Burgundian varieties have found a second home here. For each variety, we try to find the most suitable location, the right harvest time and the right winemaking method. We want to express the terroir with wines that are slightly riper and distinctly drier, with a body that is rounded off by the minerals that make up the richness of the Burgundy oak. Each vintage is different, each vintage has its own particularities. We do not want to standardise the wines of the different vintages, but we do want to produce the best possible wine each year. This is our commitment to the Čarga 1767 brand, to Brda and above all to ourselves. And also to our customers, who believe in us and our wines.
